What a Hoot

The owl prints I'm using in Baby C's room are framed and ready to hang! I found these unique owl prints on Etsy and wanted to use them for the baby's room. I had them framed in black with white matte - to match all of the furniture. I think they look amazing and can't wait to see them on the wall!

They are actually old English dictionary pages -
my Mom said they are something a teacher would pick out, ha!

Greg'chiladas

I was laying in bed after a long day of working in my classroom. Laughing to myself as I watched the Kardashian gals being crazy on TV, I hear Greg putting up dishes and sizzlin' up some onion. He was making some wonderful beef and bean enchiladas - Greg style. He topped them with home grown cherry tomatoes and cayenne peppers. Delicious! I had to share with you all what they looked like - too pretty to eat.... but I got over that real fast!

Fresh off the Vine

Greg and I are proud to announce that we have grown a beautiful, ripe cantaloupe!
Fresh from our garden, this cantaloupe smells so sweet and delicious.
Can't wait to cut into it, especially on this hot summer day!

Side note: I received an email from one of my pregnancy websites today welcoming me to the 21st week. It compared the baby to the size of a cantaloupe... a bit funny since we grew one in our garden & I just posted this. Coincidence?

Progress

NEWS FLASH! I have finished painting the baby's room! I'm tooting my own horn because I painted all by myself (with permission from doc). Seeing that I didn't work this summer, I had plenty of time.

The paint was chosen with help from sister designer, Emily. It is Behr, Sculpture's Clay. I love it. It is a warm gray that has brightened up the room. We also got 3 pieces of refurbished furniture that had spent year's in Greg's home growing up. I wanted the furniture to be black with a distressed look. It looks wonderful in the room! I know, people think I'm crazy putting black furniture in a baby's room - but Greg and I just love it! The crib is going to be an antique black crib, so it will all go together in the end!

Note the small donkey stuffed animal. Baby's first stuffed animal from Mimi - - it came from a store in Cuchara, CO.

Bumpdate: 20 weeks

(Actually had makeup on today and hair done, so I decided to show my face)

How Far Along: 20 weeks

Size of the baby: The size of a banana (about 7 in from crown to rump, 11 oz)

Total Weight Gain: The doctor was happy with my weight gain thus far, we'll just leave it at that.

Maternity Clothes: Yes, wearing mostly maternity these days. Regular shirts are just a bit short in the front. Some pants I can still wear from pre-pregnancy, but I must use the bella band.

Gender: Still not finding out :)

Movement: A bunch of movement. Last week the doctor discovered that my placenta is behind the baby so I am able to feel kicks through my stomach because their isn't that barrier between baby and my skin. Mainly feel the movement in the mornings at in the evenings.

Sleep: Tossing and turning, up to use the restroom, and then lying awake from 3:30am on thinking about all of the things I need to do for baby and school. Guess this is God's way of preparing me for little sleep later down the road.

What I miss: I miss being able to do anything. I was in my classroom yesterday and the only way I could get something up on the wall was to stand on a chair, which my doctor said was a big no-no. I did try, but then got scared of falling, so I'll have to have someone help me. I don't like asking for help.

Symptoms: Some days it feels like my whole abdomen is stretching out of my body. Doctor said these "stretching" pains are normal so I just rub the buddha until it stops. Is booty jiggle a symptom? Because I have that going on.

Cravings: Still no major cravings. It is hard for me to decide what to eat most days. I have found that I enjoy spicy food and it doesn't taste as spicy as it used to...

Weekly Wisdom: Let others help.

Best Moment of the Week: This happened about 2 weeks ago, but Greg actually felt the baby kick - amazing to see his face!

Looking forward to: getting some furniture delivered that we had refurbished for the nursery!

19 weeks and Counting

I've moved into my 20th week of pregnancy. I'm almost halfway through - hard to believe! I never thought I'd make it this far, counting my lucky stars each and every day for this sweet pea and praying for continued health for me and baby C.

We had a checkup this past week and got to see our sweet baby love. The ultrasound consisted of a lot of measurements! The doctor measured the brain, thigh bone, spine.... she checked out the heart, toes, feet, kidneys -- absolutely amazing what they can see. But she did NOT look to see what the sex was per our request. I just knew while scoping everything out she saw something and just didn't say - but she surprisingly said she didn't look in that "area" because they want to be surprised as well, if they can.

Here, he or she is, at 19 weeks:

The mouth seriously opened right when she took this shot, looks like he or she is smiling!

Sunset in Tunica

Greg and I took a quick, one-night trip to Tunica this weekend. He was playing in a golf tournament for Pepsi and I jokingly said I'd go with him to gamble - ha! He said why not make a trip of it and I could hangout at the outlet shops and pool while he golfed and then we'd get a good dinner that night and just hangout! We did and we had a blast. It was like a quick vacation only an hour from our house. After dinner on Saturday night we went into the casino for about 10 minutes and realized.... hey - people smoke A LOT in casinos. Seeing that I really don't enjoy inhaling second hand smoke, nor does my baby... we left and I drove Greg to the Tunica River Walk that I had passed by earlier in the day. It was beautiful at sunset. I spied some rocking chairs facing the river and had to sit and rock before we left. Here are some photos we took. The river boat was out on a dinner cruise so we didn't get to see the boat, but the building and dock were pretty amazing.

Sunset on the river.

Greg rockin' on the porch.

Me and Greg on the dock bridge.

Mama rockin' in the rocking chair.

My sweetness!

Motivated by a Bald Man

I love to share products on my blog that I use and love. I, often times, find it difficult to get motivated to clean. Wait... who am I kidding here? Often times? Ok, most all of the time I find it hard to get motivated to clean. But, this new Mr. Clean multi-surface cleaner with Febreze is AMAZING! It smells so wonderful you'll feel as if you are submerged in the New Zealand springs as it says on the label.... well, that may be going too far- but it will make you want to clean more and more. Just trust me on this one.

Nursery Inspiration

LOVE this nursery I found online - it is so warm and it is exactly how I envision our baby's room. I am painting our nursery walls at this very moment in a gray color, a bit lighter than the paint pictured here.

Since we are not finding out the sex of our sweet babe, I am sticking to very basic colors - gray, white, and black for the nursery. I'll work in color with art, accessories, blankets, etc. My amazing design sister, Emily, is helping me each step of the way. At the moment I am most likely driving her insane - thank you sis for all of your help, love you to the moon and wish you were here to help me paint!

Bumpdate: 18 weeks

How Far Along: 18 Weeks

Size of the baby: a mango (about 6 in crown to rump, .5 lb)

Total Weight Gain: we shall see this coming Friday, I might not look at the scale!

Maternity Clothes: I have officially grown out of my normal pants and have moved on to a few maternity pants - jeans and capris. Also, buying up comfy maternity tops that will last me a while!

Gender: Still not finding out & even more excited!

Movement: YES! I started feeling weird "twinges" during the 16th week, but definitely began feeling movement last week and this week. About an hour ago Greg actually felt the baby kick for the first time - a precious moment for us both! A lot of people described it as "flutters" ... but to me the movement is more like little kernels of popcorn popping in my belly.

Sleep: Sleeping is getting a bit uncomfortable because I'm really trying to stay on my side but wake up on my back. My hips are starting to hurt when I sleep, not a lot of pleasant journeys through dreamland these days.

What I miss: Going out for a good, long run.

Symptoms: I'm down to needing zofran a lot less! Some days I only take half and some days none - but others I take one, just depends. Still pretty tired at the end of the day with leg aches. But, for the most part
