Bumpdate: 39 weeks

Almost there!

Tomorrow I will be 39 weeks, moving into the 40th and final week of this pregnancy! As of last Monday, I was dilated 2 cm and 60% effaced. I go back to see the doctor on Monday. I will be induced this coming Friday, December 2, if baby decides not to come on his or her own. I'm very anxious and nervous about everything and just pray all will go well! In a way I'd love to have the baby come on his or her own, but the idea of knowing a date is also nice. We'll see what this week brings!

Either way, Greg and I are both packed and ready to go! My mom flies in on Thursday, December 1 - she is cutting it close, wouldn't you say?
Hopefully my next post will include a picture of a beautiful baby girl or boy! Stay tuned . . .

Bumpdate: 37 weeks

How Far Along: 37 weeks

Size of the baby: The size of a WATERMELON (about 19-22 in, 6.5 lbs)
No wonder I feel so huge!

Last doctor update: We went to the doctor this past Friday. I am 60% effaced and 1cm dilated. The baby's head is very low, according to my doctor - I can concur with her on that from the pressure that I feel. I will head back this coming Friday, anxious to see if we've had any other progress. The way I've been feeling, I just feel like this baby will make an appearance soon - which would be fine with me. I am not sleeping at all these days. If I am not going to sleep, I'd rather have a sweet baby to snuggle with instead of laying on the couch staring at the ceiling fan. I have strange feelings here and there and never know what they are. It will be real interesting to see what happens when I do go into labor and have no idea what to do! No books, internet sites, or people can prepare you for that. But, we are packed and ready to go when the time is here. I am continuing to work, even though each day is trying and tiring & it takes all I have to get through - I hope to last as long as I can. I only have 12 working days until the due date, so hopefully I can hang in there!

Looking forward to: Thanksgiving break next week and meeting our sweet little one soon!

Belly Shots

I wasn't going to do maternity photos, but found Cindy Meisch through a friend. She is wanting to do more maternity sessions in her photography business. We were happy to be her guinea pigs and were able to get some great shots! Here are a few favorites.

These were taken at 36 weeks.
Thanks Cindy, can't wait for our newborn photos!!

Greg was such a trooper, a handsome trooper I might add. I'm sure there were games on TV he would have rather been watching, but instead he spent some time doing something important to me. He has been amazing and has done so much for me during these last 9 months. Love you G, can't wait to meet our little one!

Will You Still Love Me?

Birdie is acting very clingy and needy these days. Think she senses we have a new addition on the way?

Bumpdate: 35 weeks & Nursery

How Far Along: 35 weeks

Size of the baby:
A large cantaloupe (19-22 inches, 6 lbs)

Total Weight Gain: 22 lbs

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity, even "maternity shoes".... haha I bought some Crocs today with fuzzy lining and they feel so delicious on this pregnant woman's footsies! I saw another teacher at the doctor yesterday and she had on some Crocs and she said they have saved her feet during her pregnancy. I never have liked Crocs on myself & have never owned a pair but comfort trumps cuteness these days.

Gender: My sister and aunt started our "family baby poll" today, it was interesting seeing who thought we were having a girl and who thought we were having a boy! It will definitely be a total surprise and we just can't wait! What do you think?

Movement: Baby is getting bigger and I suppose he or she doesn't have much room to move, seems more like stretches rather than kicking.

Sleep: Between late night World Series games and the battle of the bladder, I haven't slept much in the last week.

What I miss: De-stressing with a glass of wine.

Symptoms: Hello heartburn, not nice to meet you!

Cravings: none

Best Moment of the Week: Going to doc yesterday and hearing baby's head is down just like it should be and I'm 50-60% effaced!

Looking forward to: Maternity pictures next weekend, hope they turn out decent!

On to more fun things, the nursery! I still have work to do on the nursery - like hang things on the wall that I don't have and organize drawers.... but that can come later, I have time, right? Right?! I played with the pictures because that is just what I do, so they are 'antiqued' and not true to color... but you get the idea :)

See what I mean? It still needs some work and some things on the wall and curtains... but thought I'd save some room for newborn pictures to be hung on the wall - or maybe this is just me procrastinating and not wanting to decide what to put up!

Bumpdate: 33 weeks

How Far Along: 33 weeks

Size of the baby:
A pineapple (about 19-22 in long, 4.9 lbs)

Total Weight Gain: 17 lbs Update: 20 lbs (just got back from doctor, baby is growing!)

Maternity Clothes: ALL maternity, finding it difficult to dress these days because I have worn so many dresses up to this point and now with the weather cooling off - - trying to find pants I like has become a challenge. Really thinking about buying a tarp, poking some holes in it for my head and arms and calling it a day. I can always jazz it up with a belt or something....

Gender: Unknown. Most people said they thought we would have a girl, but I've had 3 people in the last week tell me I look like I'm carrying a boy.... what excitement it will be when we find out!

Movement: All day and all night, most of the time a feel a foot on the right side and then the head or some other body part lifting up on the other side, funny to watch!

Sleep: Not much, waking up to use the restroom a whole lot. I have also become very thirsty at night, so I drink water, go to sleep, wake up to use the restroom, drink more water, sleep, and start the whole cycle over again.

What I miss: Getting around with ease, I struggle to breath and move around with the extra weight.

Symptoms: Swelling of feet and hands, THIRSTY, backaches...

Cravings: THIRSTY for orange juice when I wake up and thirsty for water all night long.

Weekly Wisdom: People really WILL say anything to a pregnant lady with no filter.

Best Moment of the Week: Being able to be with a friend who had her baby 9 weeks early and meeting her little guy for the first time - what a miracle to see.

Looking forward to: Fall Break this week, seeing some friends, and my next doctor's appointment.

Who asked your opinion anyways?

Anonymous - (touching Katie's stomach akwardly) "Oh, look at this belly.... you are having a girl"

Katie - "You think so? I guess we'll see in a few months..."

1 minute later as Katie is walking away...

Anonymous - "Oh wow... but with that rear end, that could definitely be a boy...."

Yes, this has been a true story brought to you by me.

Sunday Funday

We decided to go find some geocaches around Lakeland this morning. When I say "we" I really mean "Greg." Although, I was excited to go, it just takes me a little longer to say yes these days to physical activity since I'm carrying extra poundage these days. The weather was great to be outside, so we loaded Birdie up and headed to the woods to find some treasures! Here are some pictures from our hunt.

Starting on the Yellow Trail
Birdie is all work, no play!

Searching...

Found it!

The first geocache, an old ammo box

Found the 2nd one of the day!

Nerd Alert! Baby's first geocache

We left everything in this one and added a golf ball.

Crazy looking tree

Greg finding the 3rd geocache, across a creek
& through the woods

How cool! A birdhouse for a geocache,
someone is very clever!

30 is RAD

No one should ever be scared of 30 - it was my best birthday BY FAR! My sweet, yet secretive, husband pulled off a huge surprise party without me knowing. I know everything and this even slipped past me! He came up with an 80s theme, since I'm a product of the 80s. 80s music was blaring, old cassettes and records were the decor, a slideshow of my life was rolling.... it was amazing! People were dressed in 80s garb and I was so confused at first, but eventually after the shock wore off and I figured out what was going on, the fun set in! Amy and Jessica set me up with 80s clothes and I was ready to party -- well, as much as a pregnant woman can party. Here are some pictures, sorry for some of the poor quality!

Me in total shock! Mamaw laughing hysterically!

Trying to hide behind Mom, what am I.... 5 years old?

Me and sis (& Karrie being sneaky in the background)

Me with my little Twink

Jessica and Jeff - no those aren't wigs!

Miami Vice made it to the party

Some 80s chick band

Papaw & me

Then off to dinner at Restaurant Iris on my birthday weekend -
all I can say is.... shrimp 'n' grits!

HELLO 3rd Trimester

How Far Along: 27 weeks

Size of the baby: About 16 in from head to toe, 2 lbs

Total Weight Gain: 16 lbs, which I am proud of... doc praised my weight gain and said to continue doing what I'm doing!

Maternity Clothes: All maternity pants and almost all maternity shirts. Got to do a little early birthday shopping this past weekend with my mom and she treated me to some new clothes! Thanks Mamacita.

Gender: Still holding strong!

Movement: This baby never sleeps, constant movement and it is so fun to watch. Mom has been here and she got to feel the baby kick and move several times. We even watched my stomach get totally uneven one day, all kinds of giggles came from both of us!

Sleep: Sleeping a little bit harder these days since work keeps me exhausted. Still having to get up 2-3 times to go to the bathroom. If only I had the courage to buy Depends...

What I miss: Don't judge me... but I miss the enjoyment of an adult beverage while sitting on the patio.

Symptoms: I suppose I will be one of those pregnant women who suffers with morning sickness throughout the pregnancy. Still having to take 1/2 Zofran each morning.

Cravings: No cravings, but have been extremely thirsty the past few days - if Lake Michigan were in front of me I would destroy it...

Weekly Wisdom: Don't stress the little stuff, enjoy life and those around me.

Best Moment of the Week: Having Mom here to feel kicks and go to the do

Birds of a Feather

I have to share the "happy" my Emily sent me from Denver! She always finds such unique things. I am thrilled that she thought of me and Baby C when she saw this amazing piece of art work. Heather Phifer, of Elevated Scraps, creates these beautifully decorated mobiles for any room of your house - perfect for a nursery. Emily met her and saw her work at a festival out in Denver - and boy, am I glad she did because it adds so much to the baby's room. None of the pictures do it justice, so you'll just have to come see for yourself! Take a look ...

Beautiful colors!

Thanks sis! We love you bunches... this gift will be in our home for a LONG time!
